Make Study Items in 76 Languages, Not Just 12

Flashcards, quizzes, notes, slides and audio lessons can now be made in 76 languages. Pick any language with search, get PDFs that read the right way with labels in your language, and audio read aloud in 69 of them.

iTutor Team

Make your flashcards, quizzes, notes, slides and audio lessons in the language you actually study in. iTutor's screens come in 12 languages, and until now the things it made for you came in those same 12. From today, study items can be made in 76 languages, from Azerbaijani and Hindi to Persian, Russian, Swahili and Chinese.

The tutor has always answered in whatever language you wrote to it. Now everything it makes follows too: every question, every answer, every heading, the PDF you download and the voice that reads an audio lesson aloud.

Pick any language, or let the tutor pick it

When you make an item, the Language field now opens a list of every language iTutor can make it in. Each language is shown in its own name, so Azerbaijani appears as Azərbaycan dili and Persian as فارسی, with the English name beside it. The app's own 12 languages come first and the rest follow in order. With 76 to choose from there is a search box: type a few letters in either name and the list narrows at once.

You rarely need to open the list at all. The field starts on the language you have been chatting in on that subject. And if you ask in the chat, for example "make flashcards on the water cycle in Hindi", the tutor fills in Hindi for you.

Asked in Azerbaijani, so the card starts on Azerbaijani. The full list is one tap away, with a search box.

Every kind of item, all the way through

The language reaches every kind of item iTutor makes: flashcards, quizzes, quick notes, study guides, slides, mind maps, exam simulations and more. It is not only the main text. The section headings, the questions and their answers, the explanations under a quiz answer and the title of the item are written in the language you chose, too.

That holds even when your material is in another language. Upload English lecture notes, pick Russian, and you get Russian flashcards drawn only from your English notes. A subject named in one language can hold items in another: flashcards made in Chinese in a subject called تقنيات المعلومات are titled in Chinese, not Arabic.

One topic, six languages, five scripts. Each card is written in its language from the question to the last word of the answer.

Audio lessons that speak your language

Audio lessons and podcasts are read aloud by natural voices in 69 of the 76 languages. When you pick a language for an audio item, the list shows only the languages it can speak, so you never wait for a recording that cannot be made.

Seven languages can be written but not yet spoken: Armenian, Belarusian, Hausa, Igbo, Maori, Punjabi and Yoruba. If one of them is asked for anyway, iTutor says so straight away, before anything is written or taken from your monthly allowance. Videos are made in English, Arabic, Spanish and French for now.

Documents that read the right way

Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Pashto and Hebrew run right to left, and so do the slides, PDFs and Word documents made in them. Languages with their own scripts, such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Thai, Georgian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, print in fonts made for them, so a downloaded PDF shows every letter instead of empty boxes.

The words a PDF adds around your notes follow your language as well. The type of item at the top, the reading time, the date, Answer key on a quiz, and the small labels that mark a section as worth memorising or easy to mix up used to appear in English on every copy. Now a Persian note prints them in Persian.

What stays the same

iTutor's own buttons and menus stay in its 12 languages, and you can switch between them in Settings as before. An item in any language counts toward your plan exactly like any other item: there is no extra charge for choosing a language, and the same monthly limits apply.

Items you already made keep their language. To get an existing item in another language, open it and ask the tutor to translate it, for example "put these flashcards in Hindi". iTutor saves the earlier version first, so you can always go back.
