Persiapan GRE dengan Tutor AI: Apa yang Berkesan

iTutor Team 15 Julai 2025

The GRE is the exam everyone takes and nobody loves. Three and a half hours of verbal, quant, and analytical writing, and the scores feed into every grad program you care about. If you haven't touched algebra in four years or your vocabulary has atrophied since undergrad, you need efficient prep — not a 12-week tutoring package.

Here's what actually works with an AI tutor, section by section.

Verbal: attack vocabulary and reading separately

The GRE verbal section is really two skills. Vocabulary (text completion, sentence equivalence) and reading comprehension. Treat them as separate projects.

For vocab, AI is ideal for generating contextual sentences, multiple-choice drills, and mnemonic explanations. Rather than brute-memorizing 1,000 flashcards, you can ask the AI to teach you word families, Latin roots, and how a word shifts meaning in different contexts. Review 20 new words a day, drilled in context, and you'll internalize them faster than staring at Magoosh lists.

For reading, the AI can feed you GRE-style passages and walk through your reasoning question by question — especially the inference and main-idea questions that trip up most students.

Quant: rebuild the foundations

The GRE quant is not hard math. It's high school math under time pressure. The catch: if you're five years out of calculus class, "high school math" is further away than you think.

Start with a diagnostic to see where you're rusty. Then use AI to drill the specific weak areas:

  • Ratios and proportions — common word-problem foundation.
  • Algebra — systems of equations, inequalities.
  • Geometry — especially coordinate geometry and circles.
  • Data interpretation — chart and graph reading under pressure.
  • Quantitative comparison — a uniquely GRE question type with specific strategies.

For each area, ask the AI to explain the concept, then generate ten practice questions, then dissect your wrong answers. It's the drill-sergeant loop that actually moves scores.

Analytical Writing: draft, critique, revise

AWA is the section most students ignore until two weeks before the test. It's also the one where AI gives the biggest improvement per hour. Write a full 30-minute Issue or Argument essay, paste it into the AI, and ask for detailed feedback on structure, argument quality, evidence use, and style. Do this ten times and you'll watch your writing tighten dramatically.

Timed section practice

Every week, do at least one timed verbal and one timed quant section. Use the AI for blind review afterward: walk through every question you weren't sure about before checking the answers. This is where real understanding is built.

Full-length practice tests

ETS publishes two official PowerPrep tests. Those are gold. Take one mid-prep as a calibration check and the other a week before the exam. In between, third-party full-lengths are fine for stamina practice.

Pacing is half the battle

On both sections, pacing separates 160s from 170s. Use AI to run focused pacing drills — 10 quant questions in 15 minutes, for example. Speed only improves through deliberate practice, not by hoping you'll be faster on test day.

The mental game

The GRE rewards composure. Students who spiral on a tough early question lose points for the next five. AI can help you build the habit of "mark and move" by simulating the exact pressure of timed sections. If your practice looks like test day, test day feels like practice.

The bottom line

The GRE is a test of targeted preparation. Identify your weak spots, drill them relentlessly, and build stamina with full-lengths. AI tutoring compresses the feedback loop from days to minutes, which is why students who prep with AI plus official materials consistently outperform students using prep books alone. iTutor's tutoring mode lets you drill vocab, dissect quant, and get writing feedback all in one place — without scheduling a single session.
